November 1998 News

The Steering Committee feels that we need to add someone who can help with F.O.O.T. publicity; someone who knows how to convey our goals and events to newspapers, community officials and other conservation organizations, as well as potential new participants. If you could help us out, or know someone you think would be effective and interested, please let one of the Steering Committee know.

Howard (Jeep) Hobbs has had to withdraw from Committee membership because of other commitments. We thank him for his help and expect to see him on many future hikes.

Would you like to be on our mailing list? If so, contact Tom Horth by e-mail at: or by phone at: 463-8843 or by paper mail at: 2 Neptune St. Newburyport, MA 01950

We prefer to distribute this newsletter by e-mail, since the cost is essentially zero. Paper copies cost us about 50¢ per for printing and postage. If you would like to receive paper, we request (but don't require) a $5 donation per address. That will pay for at least a year. Please send your donation to our Treasurer, Kate Day, P.O.Box 601, West Newbury, MA 01985.

Hunting Reminder. It is grouse season in Massachusetts for the rest of November, then deer season through Dec. 19. The exception is Sundays, when there is never any hunting in Mass. In New Hampshire, firearms season for deer is Nov. 11 through Dec. 6, and hunting is permitted all days of the week. WEAR HUNTER ORANGE IN THE WOODS!

Hope to see you hiking/skiing/snowshoeing, and at the next meeting on Monday, Jan. 18.
